With Thanksgiving only a few weeks away, we can’t help but think about all that we’re thankful for here at Barry Wasserman’s. From our clients to staff, even the technology we use, we couldn’t be more appreciative of everyone (and thing) that has helped make us one of the top-rated LASIK surgeons and eye specialists in the New Jersey area!
Join us in our pledge to be more thankful every day of the year by following these tips for a life with more happiness and gratitude!
1. Write down what you’re thankful for.
Keep a small notebook with you and write down a few things you’re grateful for throughout the day. While you’re welcome to write as much as you want, most studies find that quick bullet points with just a few words tend to have the greatest impact on people. At the end of each day, read back what you wrote.
2. Express your gratitude more often.
It’s no surprise that people love to be appreciated, but appreciating others actually makes you happier as well. Give your waitress, friend, mom, dad, and colleague a sincere “thank you” the next time they do something for you. Those two little words might be enough to make their day (and yours!).
3. Detach from technology (Once you’ve finished reading this, of course).
We’d be lost without our cell phones (literally, we need the GPS on them!), but putting your phone down is important for your mental health. Whether at a concert or out to dinner, being present and in the moment is one of the best ways to identify and appreciate all the good people and things in your life.
4. Take a hike.
Spending time in nature helps you to relax and see the world around you. Plus, spending time in the great outdoors has also been shown to improve people’s physical health.
5. Use more positive language.
We know it’s sometimes easier said than done, but positive language has a huge impact on how you see the world around you and how others perceive you. A great way to get the ball rolling it to pick two positive words you’re going to actively use throughout the day. Within just a few days, you’ll have an entire roster of exceptional words at your fingertips.
Want to add excellent vision to that list of things you’re grateful for? We’d be more than happy to set up a qualifying appointment, where we will run a few tests to determine your candidacy for the procedure, as well as answer any other general questions you may have.
