LASIK Eye Surgery

Congratulations on taking the first step in becoming glasses and contact lens free, with LASIK! LASIK eye surgery is an amazing procedure, which is now a possibility for a wide variety of
patients due to recent advancements in technology. With the current technology at Barry Wasserman M.D, we are able to safely and effectively treat patients suffering from varying degrees of myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism.  The procedure is extremely precise and safe.  The results can decrease in reliance on vision correction, essentially lowering glasses and contact prescription or eliminate need for correction at all.  Dr. Wasserman will only accept excellent candidates for the LASIK surgery.   When you come in for the consultation you will get a thorough exam, testing and discussion to make sure that LASIK is right for you.  To see more about Dr. Wasserman visit Dr. Wasserman’s page

The procedure

The LASIK procedure is very straightforward from the patient’s perspective. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes to prepare for your surgery, but the actual surgical portion of the procedure typically takes less than 15 minutes! For more information on the surgery itself, please visit out LASIK procedure page.  LASIK is only approved for patients over the age of 18 and your glasses prescription should have little or no change for about a year.

Is LASIK Safe?

This is often one of the first questions we hear from patients in the early stages of considering LASIK.

LASIK is a very safe procedure, and has become even safer in previous years due to some amazing advancements in the technology we use. For more information on the safety of the LASIK procedure, and the visual results that our patients experience post-surgery, please visit our LASIK safety page.

How much does LASIK cost?

The cost of LASIK is something that really varies from patient to patient due to any insurance discounts you may have. At Barry Wasserman M.D., we will work with you to make your cost as reasonable as possible. We accept most main insurance plans, and can offer financing options as well. For more information on the cost of LASIK, and our financing options available with approved credit, please visit our LASIK financing page.

When can I go back to work?

This is a major misconception about LASIK. There is little to NO down time when you have LASIK surgery. Immediately after LASIK, you go home to rest for several hours. Many patients are able to drive the very next day to their post-operative appointment. You usually return to work within a day or two and are able to resume most all normal activities within a week’s time. So no long recovery time and no wasted PTO days, and we usually do surgeries on Friday just to give you the weekend.
